If you have a REUSABLE/washable filter (metal or electrostatic frame), rinse and dry it and reuse it instead of throwing it away.
How to prepare it
Slide the old filter into a bag before removing it so dust does not spread.
Note the size printed on the frame so you buy the right replacement.
Don't
Do not put a used air filter in the curbside recycling cart — the mixed materials and dust contaminate the load.
Do not vacuum-clean and reuse a disposable (non-washable) filter — it will not work as intended.
